Science and Technology Advanced Certificate

 

Program Overview

This advanced certificate program is designed to provide elementary teachers with in-depth pedagogical and content understanding for teaching Earth and Space, Physical and Life Sciences in the elementary schools.  In addition, the program provides hands-on instruction for teaching children with a variety of educational technologies specifically related to science and mathematics learning and digital tools for the classroom.

Coursework

Students complete a one-year sequence beginning in the Fall semester. Courses are offered in the afternoon and evening.

This program does not lead to NYS teacher certification.

Eligibility and Admission Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree with a minimum GPA of 3.0
  • Transcripts from all colleges/universities previously attended
  • Statement of Purpose
  • Resume
    • Include relevant experiences as a teacher or teacher assistant in elementary or middle school
  • Two letters of recommendation
