TESOL Adult

Program Overview

The TESOL Adult MA program will prepare you to teach adults in college, continuing education, business or private settings in the United States or abroad.

In this program, connections to the English as a New Language (ENL) classroom are emphasized and you will be exposed to extensive field experiences and practice. You should be prepared to spend considerable amounts of time observing and participating in educational settings in addition to attending classes at Hunter.

Coursework and Clinical Experiences

Coursework is offered in a range of online and in-person modes usually with a 4:30 or 7:10 pm start time. Because we value classroom experience, many courses have required hours of classroom experience (fieldwork) in a school setting – either a college or a community education setting, including our own Hunter Saturday programs for adult learners (SPELL and COPE). In the final semester, all students participate in our laboratory school practicum, which takes place Saturdays from 9 am to 5 pm.
