Music Education (MA)
Welcome to the Music Education (MA) program home page. Use this page as a guide to the program from acceptance to graduation for Track 1.
This program prepares students to teach Music PreK – Grade 12 to students of diverse backgrounds, abilities and interests. The Music Education programs are run jointly by the Music Department and by the School of Education.
Track 1 is for those who do not have New York State certification in Music.

Certification and Licensure: This program leads to New York State certification to teach Music grades PreK-12.

Newly Accepted Students: Orientations
Welcome to the School of Education! Students will attend two orientations to cover all the information needed to start your program:

- Program Advising Session
General New Student Orientation
The School of Education hosts monthly virtual new graduate student orientations titled “New Student Orientation – Teacher Education and Leadership”. These 60 minute online sessions will provide you with an overview of Hunter College and the School of Education. Additionally, you will find answers to many of your questions regarding registration, student life and certification. See “Newly Accepted Student Events” below for details about upcoming sessions.
