The advanced certificate program is a post-master’s program for applicants without prior NYS teacher certification in Spanish.

This program leads to initial New York State certification to teach Spanish in grades 7-12.

Course Sequence and Program Tracker
Students complete a sequence of courses in both Education and Spanish. The course sequence and program trackers provide a suggested order of education courses for the program based on start date. Education courses are taken alongside Spanish courses. Students must consult with the faculty advisor to determine their individualized course of study before registering for classes.

Newly Accepted Students: Orientations
Welcome to the School of Education! Students will attend two orientations to cover all the information needed to start your program:

General New Student Orientation
The School of Education hosts monthly virtual new graduate student orientations titled “New Student Orientation – Teacher Education and Leadership”. These 60 minute online sessions will provide you with an overview of Hunter College and the School of Education. Additionally, you will find answers to many of your questions regarding registration, student life and certification.
