Special Education Teacher Appreciation Day
On Monday December 2, 2024 the School of Education held a Special Education Teacher Appreciation Day to acknowledge teacher candidates in District 75 and to celebrate and acknowledge National Special Education Day which signifies the signing of of the Individuals with Disabilities Act (IDEA and the amazing work of the teachers that teach students with disabilities organized by team leader Professor Elizabeth Klein, Flavia Tomori, Assistant Director of Partnership Programs and Cathleen Collins, Assistant Dean and Adjunct Lecturer Kin Mark. This beautiful celebration was a packed house of teacher candidates, families, leaders, faculty, staff and special guest speakers. The evening was a glorious night of inspirational talks, networking and community building The event featured wonderful speakers from our Hunter College community. President, Dr. Nancy Cantor, Dean of the School of Education, Dr. Julie Gorlewski, Chair of Special Education Dr. April Kisamore and Jeneca Parker-Tongue, Director of the Collaborative for Social Emotional Learning and Leading (C-SELL), from our New York City Public School Partnership, Deputy Chancellor and Alumni, Christina Foti, Superintendent of District 75 Dr. Ketler Louissant and Community Leaders Senator John Liu, Councilwomen, Rita Joseph and former PEP member, Effi Zakry and Alumni Speaker, Nadine Mc Grath.
