New Dual Certification Graduate Program in Childhood and Special Education (All Grades)

The Hunter College School of Education has launched of new graduate program in Childhood Education (Grades 1-6) and Special Education (All Grades), expanding pathways for aspiring teachers and preparing them to teach diverse learners across New York City and beyond.

This dual certification master’s degree program leads to eligibility for teacher certification in Childhood Education (Grades 1-6) and Special Education (All Grades) through the New York State Education Department.

Designed to meet the evolving needs of schools across New York City and New York State, the program integrates rigorous coursework with supervised clinical experiences. Candidates develop expertise in evidence-based instruction, inclusive practices, culturally responsive teaching, and collaboration with families and school communities. By earning dual certification, graduates expand their professional opportunities while strengthening schools’ capacity to support all learners.
