Teacher Opportunity Corps (TOC)
The Teacher Opportunity Corps (TOC) Scholarship is an opportunity for students to gain experience in culturally responsive teaching through participation in conversations, workshops, professional development and additional hours of practice in the field. In June, selected TOC scholars put their skills and knowledge to practice while having a positive impact on the learning of students at priority schools in East Harlem. Teacher Opportunity Corps Scholars receive tuition support, a stipend, and mentorship.
Award
Teacher candidates awarded the Culturally Responsive Teaching scholarship will be provided tuition for up to 6 credits of their classwork during the school year in exchange for participation in professional development workshops. Awardees will also receive a cash stipend as part of an intensive fieldwork placement in June.
