New York State Office of Mental Health (OMH) Mental Health Scholarship Program for Underrepresented and/or Multilingual Students

 

The New York State Office of Mental Health (OMH) Mental Health Scholarship Program for Underrepresented and/or Multilingual Students aims to address the lack of diversity in the mental health workforce by supporting underrepresented and multilingual students. Scholarship recipients must commit to making a good faith effort to work in a Medicaid-funded site after graduation.

Eligibility

  • US Citizen or Permanent Resident
  • New York State resident
  • Member of an underrepresented group (Hispanic, African American/Black, American Indian/Alaskan Native, Native Hawaiian/Pacific Islander, Asian) or multilingual
  • Enrolled in an eligible program (Clinical Psychology, General Psychology, Social Work, Psychiatric Nurse Practitioner, Mental Health Counseling, School Counseling, Rehabilitation Counseling)
  • Be at least a second-year undergraduate student 30 to 59 credits or a first year graduate student
  • Good academic standing (2.5 GPA or first year graduate student)
  • Maintain full time enrollment (12 credits or more for undergraduates or 9 credits or more for graduates)

  • Personal Statement that address your motivation for wanting to become a mental health practitioner, career goals and plans after graduation
  • Faculty Recommendation
