Dance Education Advanced Certificate
Program Overview
This master’s program will prepare you to teach Dance to students of diverse backgrounds, abilities, and interests in elementary, middle school, and high school settings.
Coursework and Clinical Experiences
Courses are offered in the afternoon and evening. Some courses may be available in an online or hybrid format. Select courses have required hours of classroom experience (fieldwork) in a New York City public school. Students also participate in supervised teaching (student teaching and/or practicum) as the culmination of their course of study. Student teaching and/or practicum requires five full days per week for at least one semester.

Eligibility and Admission Requirements
- A bachelor’s degree from an accredited institution with a GPA of at least 3.0
- An MA or MFA degree in Dance from an accredited institution with a GPA of at least 3.0
- A minimum of 34 credits in dance with a GPA of at least 3.0 in dance
- Submit a Curriculum Vitae (CV) with a link that includes up to three clips of their creative work – between 5 and 15 minutes in total.
- Please include a brief written synopsis of the video, describing the context of the piece and how to identify you if there is more than one performer. Upload the video(s) to YouTube or Vimeo as a public, private, or unlisted video, and add the link(s) to your CV. Visit the Dance Application page for more information.
