Teacher Education Assistance for College and Higher Education (TEACH) Grant

The Teacher Education Assistance for College and Higher Education (TEACH) Grant Program provides grants of up to $4,000 a year to eligible undergraduate and graduate students who are completing or plan to complete coursework needed to begin a career in teaching. The amount of the award is based on the number of credits registered for in each semester.

Please note, due to the federal sequester, for any 2024-25 TEACH Grant first disbursed on or after October 1, 2024, and before October 1, 2025, the maximum award of $4,000 is reduced by 5.7% ($228), resulting in a maximum award of $3,772.

TEACH Grant eligibility requirements

  • Students must be matriculated into a high need subject area program. Please see current list below.
  • Students must be registered for courses.
  • Students must have a GPA of 3.25 or greater. (For first semester students, you may also qualify with a score within the 75th percentile on any part of a standardized exam ex. GRE, teaching certification test. Exam must have been taken within the last 5 years.)
  • In addition to the above, undergraduate students must have completed 60 credits prior to application.

As a condition for receiving a TEACH Grant, you must sign a TEACH Grant Agreement to Serve in which you agree to (among other requirements) to
