Equity and Advocacy: Being Trans in the Classroom – Putting the T in Teacher Ed

Wed, Feb 4 11:00am-12:45pm

Join us for the monthly Equity and Advocacy Committee meeting in W1007 or online. This month’s meeting is titled “Being Trans in the Classroom: Putting the T in Teacher Ed” and is led by Kiersten Greene and Nora Aboali.

No matter the department we report to in the School of Education, there are things we can all do to make sure our trans and gender non-conforming students and colleagues feel welcome at Hunter.

This interactive session will provide an overview of research at the intersection of transness and teacher education, and invite participants to consider how (and where) to implement trans-inclusive practices in their daily work. We’ll spend time identifying everyday barriers to trans inclusion in the School of Education — and proposing concrete solutions. Sometimes changes with the smallest effort can make the biggest impact.
