  • Credits cannot be waived or exempted in this program. It is a set sequence with courses only offered once a year, it is a Summer or Fall start ONLY with a December graduation.

  • SPED 70000 – Issues and Practices in Educating Students with Disabilities (3 credits)
    • If fully online option is needed, must take in first summer, otherwise can take in-person in first Fall semester.

Fall Semester 1

Courses

  • SPED 74000 – Medical Aspects and Educational Implications of Visual Impairments (3 credits, includes Fieldwork hours)
  • SPED 74100 – Education and Rehabilitation of Individuals with Visual Impairments (3 credits, includes Fieldwork hours)

Spring Semester 1

Courses

  • SPED 76000 – Skills and Techniques for Rehabilitation Teaching I (3 credits, includes fieldwork hours)
  • SPED 74300 – Braille Literacy and Communication Skills for Learners with Visual Impairments (3 credits, includes fieldwork hours)
  • SPED 74700 – Principles and Practices in Orientation and Mobility for Teachers of Learners with Visual Impairments (3 credits, includes Fieldwork hours)

Summer Session 1-1

Courses

  • SPED 76100 – Skills and Techniques for Rehabilitation Teaching II (3 credits, includes Fieldwork hours)
    • In-person at Helen Keller National Center, 15 consecutive days, first 2 weeks of July

Summer Session 1-2

Courses

  • SPED 74400 – Assistive Technology for Learners with Visual Impairments (3 credits, includes Fieldwork hours)
    • Meets online 2 days a week in July and August

Fall Semester 2

Courses

  • COUNR 73000 – Counseling with the Aging (3 credits)
  • SPED 76200 – Principles of Vocational Rehabilitation and Independent Living Rehabilitation for Adults with Visual Impairments (3 credits)

Spring Semester 2

Courses

  • COUNR 72000 – Medical Aspects of Disability (3 credits)
  • COCO 70100 – Counseling Skills and Interviewing Techniques (3 credits)

Summer Session 2-1
