Karyn Alston

Doctoral Student
My professional journey has been diverse, encompassing teaching children from ages 2 through high school, providing me with a comprehensive understanding of the educational continuum. In addition to my consulting work, I am a doctoral candidate in the School of Education at Hunter College, where my research focuses on educational equity and the systemic barriers impacting marginalized communities. I also serve as an adjunct professor in Hunter College’s Curriculum and Teaching department, where I am committed to preparing and inspiring the next generation of educators
I’ve served as an educator, leader, and advocate with over 20 years in the field of early childhood education. Currently, I serve as an Early Childhood Education Consultant with the Bureau of Childcare at the Department of Health and Mental Hygiene, where I support programs in maintaining high-quality standards for young learners. Prior to this role, I spent over 15 years in the private sector, holding various leadership positions that allowed me to shape early childhood education practices and mentor educators at different stages of their careers.
Passionate about mentorship, professional development, and research, I am dedicated to fostering environments where educators feel supported and empowered. My work is driven by a commitment to continuous learning, advocacy, and the pursuit of innovative strategies that enhance teaching and learning experiences for both educators and students.
