Tanya S. T. Walker

Dr. Tanya S. T. Walker is the Principal of the Roy Wilkins School-PS 136 in St. Albans, NY.  As a visionary leader, she has helped to redefine her school into a beacon of light in the community.   Under her leadership and with the collaboration of teachers, parents, staff and community partnerships, she has made rigorous instruction, social-emotional wellness, performing arts and family outreach school-wide priorities.  These initiatives have helped the school grow and thrive under her tutelage; and with a staff of over 100, she has built a collaborative community where teachers share, students thrive, and families actively participate. Dr. Tanya Walker is a graduate of Tennessee State University- BS, Queens College – MS and Seton Hall University- Ed.D.  She is proud of her accomplishments as a school leader, as well as of her beautiful identical twin daughters, Taniya and Tyrra, currently attending medical and law school respectively.
