Louis Garcia

Louis Garcia currently serves as the principal of Brooklyn Community High School for Excellence & Equity, a Community School located in Canarsie, Brooklyn. He believes every student should see themselves in their learning, and in teaching a growth mindset. Louis regards that the work of schools is to name the systemic inequalities that persist in many communities while empowering students & families to work towards a more equitable reality through rigorous education and community-centered practice. He previously served as a transfer school principal, which worked to help over-aged and under-credited students to earn high school diplomas while re-envisioning their lives beyond high school. Louis has earned Master’s degrees in Teaching from Pace University and in Educational Leadership from Baruch College.
