Kristin Erat has proudly served the students of NYC since 2003. She taught 5th grade in Crown Heights Brooklyn, then answered the call to serve as founding principal of Grant Avenue Elementary School in the Bronx. Kristin and her team opened Grant Avenue Elementary School in 2009. The school continues to thrive today as a strong and collaborative community where students, families, and educators build safe and trusting relationships and honor individual and collective strengths as the foundation for collective success. Kristin is a graduate of Northwestern University and Brooklyn College. Kristin is committed to student and adult learning and has served as a Model Principal in NYC’s Learning Partners Program, engaged in inquiry as a Cahn Fellow, and looks forward to continuing to transform herself, her school, and her city as a Gray Fellow.
