Judith James has been a dedicated educator with the NYC Department of Education for over 20 years. Throughout her career she has served as a classroom teacher, Math Coach and Assistant Principal. She is currently a NYC School Principal of a 3K to 5 school in Brooklyn. Each position in which Judith has served, provided tremendous opportunity for personal and professional growth impacting her core beliefs of being an integral, compassionate leader who perseveres through difficult situations, while ensuring that her students remain at the heart of the work. Judith believes that when instructional leaders coalesce the skills of all staff members, utilizing current research, student data and culturally relevant pedagogy, students will have access to the best learning experiences allowing them to succeed in achieving at their highest potential. Her goal is to support and pour into her staff so that they can in turn pour into the children academically and socially. She is proud to be a Gray Fellows participant and is excited to continue to grow in her leadership practices.
