Background

Jeannie Ferrari has served as Principal of Humanities Preparatory Academy High School in Manhattan since 2012. Originally from Michigan, she earned her B.A. from the University of Michigan with a concentration in both Spanish Literature and Anthropology. She later earned her M.A. from Columbia University, Teachers College with a focus in International Educational Development and Peace Education. She taught Foreign Language and English at Humanities Prep for nine years before transitioning to Principal. She is also an alumna of the Department of Education’s Leadership In Education Apprenticeship Program, where she earned her School Building Leader’s License. Principal Ferrari has worked hard to create a warm, caring and inclusive culture where all students are known and cherished. She believes that students learn best through authentic inquiry and discovery.
