Dr. Leno is a dedicated counselor with over nine years of experience working with individuals navigating addiction and co-occurring mental health challenges. Throughout her career, she has provided counseling services to individuals across a broad range of ages, backgrounds, and settings, including schools, community health centers, and substance use treatment programs.
In addition to her counseling work, Dr. Leno has supervised graduate students in the school counseling program at Kansas State University, offering guidance and support as future counselors develop their skills. She has also taught Educational Psychology, where she aided in the development of future educators.
Dr. Leno’s research interests focus on the experiences of non-teacher trained early career school counselors when consulting with teachers. She is particularly interested in how these counselors navigate the complexities of working with educators to support student well-being and academic success, and the ways in which their training or lack thereof impacts their work.
Dr. Leno holds a Bachelor of Science in Psychology from the University of Missouri-Kansas City, a Master of Science in School Counseling from Kansas State University, and a PhD in Counselor Education and Supervision from Kansas State University.
