Verna Melissa Taylor is a dynamic and authentic leader, deeply committed to urban education. As the principal of PS 272, she brings unwavering dedication and passion to her role. Verna’s academic background includes a Bachelor of Arts in Childhood Education from Brooklyn College and dual Master’s degrees in Elementary and Special Education from Touro University, solidifying her foundation in educational excellence.
Throughout her career, Verna has seamlessly transitioned into leadership roles, demonstrating tenacity and a vibrant personality in supporting and guiding fellow educators. Her commitment to driving systemic change was recognized in 2017 when she was appointed assistant principal, and in 2021, she was promoted to principal.
Drawing from her rich experiences within the New York City Public Schools Education System, Verna tirelessly advocates for enhancing urban education, ensuring equitable access to opportunities for all students.
