Outreach Coordinator

Part-Time
Manhattan
Posted 7 months ago

The Ackerman Institute for the Family Clinic is seeking an Outreach Worker who will be directly responsible for outreach and identification of minority youth aged 12 to 18, as well as their family members, from overburdened New York City school and community agency partners. The focus will be establishing relationships with referral sources and facilitating family engagement with the Ackerman Institute for the Family Clinic.

The Outreach Coordinator will use a person-centered approach designed to ameliorate the stigma often faced by people of color and marginalized communities when seeking help for mental health issues. The Outreach Coordinator will closely collaborate with school guidance counselors and teachers to identify families in need, including relationship-building; posting program materials and referral info; making in-person and virtual presentations at schools and community partner agencies; and systematically identifying and cultivating relationships in order to advocate on behalf of youth, as well as to educate key influencers about the availability of care and ways in which they can refer those experiencing problems.

To apply please submit cover letter and resume via email to bjara@ackerman.org with “Outreach Coordinator” in the subject line.
