The Adult Literacy Program, at University Settlement, provides English to Speakers of Other Languages (ESOL) classes to immigrant adults in New York City. They are seeking an English to Speakers of Other Languages (ESOL) Instructor to teach classes in the evening.

Responsibilities

• Teach in-person ESOL classes
• Assign daily homework and give tests and writing assignments as required by the program
• Teach basic computer skills and regularly use technology in the classroom
• Regularly use class texts and supplemental materials
• Maintain attendance and performance records
• Follow and enforce program policies and rules
• Attend a minimum of 14 hours of RAEN-approved professional development as required by the NYSED and program
• Attend staff meetings
• Read and respond to emails from management team and head teacher using University Settlement email account
• Complete bi-weekly online time sheet

Qualifications

• B.A. Degree in Teaching English to Speakers of Other Languages (TESOL), English, or Teaching English to Speakers of Other Languages (TESOL) certificate
• Two years experience in teaching English to Speakers of Other Languages (ESOL)
• Experience with online teaching including Zoom (or similar video conferencing platform) and Google Classroom
