The Miseducation of the Teacher

Wed, Apr 18 2018 5:30pm-7:30pm

An Authentic Conversation About What It Means to Become an Educator.

While male students of color make up 43% of NYC’s public school population, only 8.3% of the entire teacher workforce is made up of Black, Latino and Asian men. This presents an opportunity! Hunter College and NYC Men Teach invite you to participate in a discussion where you will sort through what it means to be a teacher, and why the education system cannot thrive without you.

Invited teachers will share their experiences and insights, and sort through some of the facts and myths of working in education. Finally, learn from Hunter staff what next steps you can take to begin the journey toward becoming an educator.
