Student Teaching During COVID-19: Challenges and Opportunities Conference

Student teaching during COVID-19 will no doubt be a unique experience for all involved. In the Hunter College School of Education, we believe that this experience can be a real opportunity for our teacher candidates despite the inevitable challenges they will face. We at Hunter are committed to supporting our student teachers throughout this time.

Join us for Student Teaching During COVID-19: Challenges and Opportunities Conference on October 1st and 2nd. This two-day professional online learning experience, which is required of all Hunter students who will be engaged in student teaching this semester and builds on lessons learned from Spring 2020, has been created to help our teacher candidates meet the challenges of Spring 2020 student teaching head on. Hunter instructors and clinical supervisors are also invited and encouraged to attend.

    • Establishing and Maintaining Relationships and Community in Remote Learning Contexts
  • 11:00-11:50: Keynote Speaker: Dr. Laura Baecher
    • Making the Most out of Your Supervision Experience: Using Video to Promote Self-Awareness
  • 11:50-1:00: Lunch, Exercise, Hang out with other student teachers
  • Breakout sessions
    • 1:00-1:50: Asynchronous Remote Teaching: Tools and Tips
    • 2:00-2:50: Synchronous Remote Teaching: Tools & Tips

Friday, October 2, 10:00am-2:30pm

    • Advocating for All Learners for Justice and Equity
  • Breakout sessions
    • 11:00-12:00: Differentiating instruction for Students with Disabilities and Multilingual Learners in Remote Teaching
    • 1:30-2:30: Student Teaching During a Pandemic: We Did It and So Can You! Show and Tell with Former Student Teachers
  • 12-1:30 Lunch with cooperating teacher (if possible)
