Spring Beginnings: Hunter College Vision Rehabilitation Spring Conference

Join us for Spring Beginnings: Hunter College Vision Rehabilitation Spring Conference presented by the Hunter College Blind and Visually Impaired Program, Association of Vision Rehabilitation Therapists (AVRT), and New York State Association for Education and Rehabilitation of the Blind and Visually Impaired (NYSAER). This event will feature an overview of the programs at Hunter College, Professional Concern Roundtables, as well as, presenters Dr. John McMahon, CVRT, and Deborah Fiderer.

Dr. McMahon has an extensive background in vision rehabilitation. Over the past 39+ years he has worked as a Vision Rehabilitation Therapist and program administrator in Maine, and as a VRT, Vocational Rehabilitation Counselor, and Low Vision Therapist in Michigan. His presentation: The Unified Model of Adjustment to Vision Loss: One Way To Measure Movement Through the Adjustment Process, is impactful and appropriate across all areas of rehabilitation.

Ms. Fiderer is the Coordinator of the Community Services Program at the Helen Keller National Center (HKNC). She has been engaged in providing employment services and job placement assistance to DeafBlind individuals for over 20 years at HKNC. Her presentation: Delivering the Message: Communication Strategies to Support and Empower Individuals with Combined Vision and Hearing Loss, addresses an area often underserved in the rehabilitation process.
