Strong Voice: Making Your Presence Felt in the Classroom

Wed. October 3, 2018 | 4:30pm-5:45pm
West Building 4th Floor | Room W417
Hunter College 68th Street Campus.

This session trains K-12 teachers on how to use body language and tone to convey confidence, formality, and warmth while giving directions and corrections. It builds on key elements of Strong Voice, focusing specifically on how great teachers project their authority in a way that maintains and even strengthens relationships with students. Through analysis of master teachers’ techniques and deep practice, participants in the session will strengthen skills by practicing:

  • Going Formal while they deliver directions and corrections
  • Adding warmth to corrections and directions
  • Making shifts in body language and tone “pop” for students (i.e. make especially visible)

This session is brought to you in collaboration with Uncommon Schools. For more information, visit: www.uncommonschools.org
