The Hunter College-New Visions Charter School Teacher Residency is a 24-month teacher preparation residency program to prepare adolescent Special Education teachers to work in New Visions Charter High Schools. Students spend the first year of the program as a resident in a New Visions Charter High School working alongside and learning from an experienced mentor teacher. Upon successfully completing the residency year they are hired as a full-time teacher in the New Visions Charter High School. Tuition costs are subsidized at approximately 50% by New Visions and students are not responsible for any tuition payments until their second year.
Upon successful completion of the program students receive a master’s degree from Hunter College and are eligible for New York State initial teacher certification.
