Workshop

Dignity for All Students Act (DASA) Training – This is a graduation requirement. The Dignity for All Students Act (DASA) Training workshop can be completed at Hunter College or outside of Hunter College. Take before applying to practicum.

Winter Session 1

  • ECC 71200 – Pre-Student Teaching Field Placements in Early Childhood (1 credit, includes Fieldwork hours; only offered Fall, Winter, Spring)

  • Educating All Students (EAS) – Passing is required prior to beginning student teaching or practicum.

Spring Semester 1

  • SPEDE 77000 – Individualized Planning, Implementation and Progress Monitoring in Early Childhood (Birth through PreK) Environments and Curricula (3 credits, includes Fieldwork Hours)
  • SPED 79200 – Language Development and Alternative Communication Systems for Learners with Low Incidence Disabilities: Severe Disabilities including Deafblindness (3 credits, includes fieldwork hours)
  • ECC 71300 – The Expressive Arts in Early Childhood (3 credits)

Exams

  • Content Specialty Test (CST) – Multisubject Early Childhood. Passing is required prior to beginning student teaching or practicum.

Student Teaching or Practicum

  • SPEDE 79550 – K-2, Student Teaching in Early Childhood Special Education with an Annotation in Severe Multiple Disabilities (2 credits)

  • SPEDE 79552 – K-2, Practicum in Early Childhood Special Education with an Annotation in Severe Multiple Disabilities (2 credits)

Exams

  • edTPA – Students must prepare a portfolio of materials in conjunction with their second semester clinical experience to demonstrate readiness to teach including lesson plans and unedited video recordings of themselves at work in the classroom. The edTPA is a certification requirement.

Summer Session 3
