Exams

By the middle of semester five, students without initial certification must have taken and passed the following certification exams:

  • Educating All Students (EAS)
  • Content Specialty Test (CST) – Students with Disabilities
  • Content Specialty Test (CST) – Multisubject (3 parts) Grade 7-12

By the middle of semester five, students with initial certification must have taken and passed the following certification exams:

  • Content Specialty Test (CST) – Students with Disabilities
  • Content Specialty Test (CST) – Multisubject (3 parts) Grade 7-12

Apply for

SPED 77500 or SPED 77550

Students should apply by the middle of the semester (the application will automatically sent out to students through their myHunter email). Students must meet with advisor prior to application for SPED 77500 and SPED 77550.

Semester 6 – Spring

Courses

  • SPED 77300 – Math Methods for Adolescents with Disabilities (2 credits)
  • SPED 77400 – Supervised Clinical Teaching of Adolescents with Disabilities: Part II (2 credits)
  • SPED 77500 – Supervised Student Teaching of Adolescents with Learning Disabilities (3 credits)

OR

  • SPED 77550 – Supervised Practicum: Grades 7-12 (3 credits)

Students must apply for graduation the semester before their planned graduation. Refer to Graduation and Commencement page for full policies and procedures.

Certification

Students must apply for certification in their final semester. Refer to the program Certification and Licensure page for requirements and step by step instructions.

  • There are 48 total credits in the program. This is a fully online program.
  • SPED 77100 – Courses are offered in Fall semester only.
  • SPED 77300 – Courses are offered in Spring semester only.
  • SPED 77200 is offered in Fall semester only; SPED 77400 is offered in Spring semester only.
  • SEDC 71800, SEDC 71600, SPED 77600 – Courses are offered in Fall semester only.
  • EDLIT 75500, SEDF 71400, SEDC 71700 – Courses are offered in Spring semester only.
  • Students can exempt/ waver up to twelve credits of matching graduate coursework. See advisor for details at the beginning of program.
  • In addition to the Certification Exams, students must complete the Dignity for All Students Act (DASA) workshop prior to graduation. The Dignity for All Students Act (DASA) workshop can be completed at Hunter College or outside of Hunter College.
