Clinical Experiences: Fieldwork and Practicum
Students in the Bilingual Extension for Pupil Personnel Services (Advanced Certificate) program must complete practicum (COCO 719) in their place of employment working under their current license in a bilingual setting.
The COCO 71900 practicum course is individual meeting scheduled between you and your assigned instructor. This meeting (weekly class) will be held at a negotiated time that works best for both you & your assigned instructor.
All students must apply for practicum through the Office of Clinical Experiences.
BILED PPS students must apply for permission to register for COCO 71900 by the following deadlines prior to completing their practicum:
- May 7th for Fall practicum
- Dec 7th for Spring practicum
Registration and Placement Process
The Department of Counseling reviews practicum applications for eligibility and grants registration permission.

The Office of Clinical Experiences administers and provides support for students regarding fieldwork and supervised teaching (student teaching and practicum). The Office is led by Marshall George, Olshan Professor of Clinical Practice, and the Director of the Office of Clinical Experiences Ileana Infante.
Each program has a Clinical Placement Specialist to work with students regarding fieldwork and supervised teaching.
