Dr. Michelle Penn is a New York City Department of Education High School Principal in Brooklyn, NY. She has a B.S in Biology with a minor in Chemistry from Xavier University of Louisiana. She has an M.Ed. in Curriculum and Instruction from Loyola University Chicago. She holds a second master’s degree in Administration and Supervision from Fordham University. Additionally, she has earned a doctoral degree at Sage College Esteves School of Education. After undergrad, Michelle was recruited by Abbott Laboratories in Illinois as a manufacturing quality assurance specialist. In the evenings, she spent her time volunteering for an organization called Cabrini Green Connections tutoring and mentoring students from the Cabrini Green Projects. That experience changed Michelle’s life forever. Michelle eagerly took a leave of absence from Abbott Laboratories to pursue a career as an educator in service for social justice on a full-time, daily basis. She found that pursuing her passion as a career has been the most rewarding and fulfilling. In between being a mother and principal of a NYC public school, Michelle remains an active volunteer in her community and others.
