Do you want to learn English? The Hunter College School of Education offers two English as a Second Language (ESL) classes on Saturdays.
Saturday Program in English Language and Literacy (SPELL)
The Saturday Program in English Language and Literacy (SPELL) is open to parents only. Parents are eligible if they have a child in New York under 18 and/or over 18 and in college in New York.
Program Features
- English Classes – Listening, Speaking, Reading, Writing
- Computer Lab
- Career and Education Exploration
- Case Managers provide support services

Testing for Spring 2026
- Saturday, January 17, 2026
- Saturday, January 24, 2026

Class Location
All classes and all levels will be offered in person at Hunter College (Lexington Avenue and 68th Street).

Community Outreach Program in English (COPE)
The Community Outreach Program in English (COPE) is open to any adult.
Program Features
- Listening and speaking class
- Reading and writing class
- All levels beginning to advanced

Cost
- $80
- Payment will be accepted in person beginning February 2026.
