Schedule
DAY 1 — Tuesday, January 14, 2020 (5:00 to 8:00 pm)
Ace the Teacher Interview (5:00 to 6:15 pm)
Understand the schools’ perspective — goals, constraints, and when and how they hire. Use these insights to adapt your job search strategy. Review all the major rounds in the interview process so that you can be prepared to succeed at each step.
Ace the Teacher Demo Lesson (6:30pm – 7:45pm)
The Demo Lesson is arguably the most challenging and important round in the interview process. Learn what hiring managers are looking for, what to expect, and how to excel — especially if you have limited teaching experience. Please bring a sample lesson (preferably standalone) that we can review.
Day 2 — Wednesday, January 15, 2020 (5:00 to 8:00 pm)
Revamp Your Resume (5:00 to 6:15 pm)
Learn what recruiters and hiring managers are looking for in top resumes. Get tips to have your resume stand out and avoid common mistakes that will automatically get you disqualified. We will review actual resumes during this session so bring your most recent resume!
Finding Your Ideal School Fit (6:30 to 7:45 pm)
Finding the right environment, including mutual fit on culture, values, and pedagogy, is one of the most important decisions you can make for your long-term career growth. We provide prompts for self-reflection and give you tips on what you should be interviewing the school on — questions to gain insight (before you join, not after) into the school’s actual culture, quality of leadership, pedagogical flexibility, and red flags.
